HI There!
Boy looking at this photo ....time sure flies!
I was thin and pretty then:) This was JC out of the great CH SnoRidges Ty Won On!
JC was a wonderful dog, and such a great show dog. He had a beautiful head study.
I hated to send him back to Barbara White , cause I really ejoyed showing him, but anyway he finished quickly and was a very lovely boy.
35 years of showing and you forget sometimes about all of the great dogs that have come your way thru out it all. I believe JC was one of them.
Hope to use him sometime, as he is collected and froze!
Have a great week!

Wow so much has been keeping me busy I have forgotten to write in my blog. n
Hope all is well with everyone that has even read this blog!
Anyway, lots going on. I am so excited! Slaytons tail is growing and almost back. I have been giving him the zinc and also benadry each night. It is working and he looks gorgeous. He took 4 points a couple weekends ago, very small entry, and he was the only dog there. He went Best of Winners each day so he would get the bitch points.
I am waiting to see if my Allie is pregnant. Keep your fingers crossed for us! She is older but we really want some babies from her and our Kruiser!
Hopefully I can keep you posted and put some puppy photos up if she is.
The hot weather has been challenging to try to keep the dogs cool. I keep fans running in the kennel bldg even at night because its like air conditioning at night and it helps stay cool all day long then. They stay in the bldg because its so cool Also fresh water is so important.
NEVER leave a dog without water. No matter what.

Hi there!
well getting ready for the shows this weekend. and going to pick up our new parson russell terrier puppies! We are very excited for them!
I have a special weekend , as both my daughters are coming with me, doing the 3 shows, then heading to my cousins in Wi to spend the night , and meet in La Crosse to pick up our new babies.
I was just taking a break before I go out and start getting the dogs things ready and all the crates clean and ready to go.
We have to be very organized , as we are going to be full to the brim as well as will have five dogs to get ready and show . Tommorrow morning we meet at the shop and we will groom four mals there! Lucky for me I own a large grooming shop! Makes our lives a lot easier, even when I can't do it, I can have one of my groomers get my dogs ready for me.
Well can't wait to go have good times and great shows!
Safe traveling to all!

Hi !
Well have been busy with the world of dogs and dog shows!
It has been so hot and muggy and working hard to keep the dogs cool and comfortable. Which brings me to this post. I wanted to let you know that if you keep your dogs in an air conditioned area all the time, when you go to show them in the heat, they will not be able to perform.
So most seasoned show people will keep the dogs outside or in a room with fans so that they remain cool, but also remain accustomed to the heat when you begin to ask them to perform in the heat. Think about how you are in air conditioning and then walk out into the heat, its like walking literally into an oven Just not a good thing to do with your animals of any kind, going in and out of the cool to hot.
It is very important to give fresh buckets of cool not ice but cool water every hours, especially outdoor dogs, because that bucket can heat up very quickly in hot weather and then the dogs won't want to drink their water. Keep the water in a shaded area or their indoor part of the kennels. Pools filled with water work well too, believe it or not many will just go stand in there to cool off and really enjoy it.
The other thing is to not work them in the heat. Do any training in the very early am or late evening when things cool off and there is no sun.
AND FOR NO REASON LEAVE THEM IN A VEHICLE IN THIS TYPE OF HEAT.
NO MATTER WHAT!
If you are traveling , you will have to make very short stops and either take them inside with you , and go to drive thru;s for food...lol.
At the shows, take large coolers and get fresh ice each morning. We get these gel pads and keep them in ice and then put them in the crates to keep the dogs cool. Fans are a must to keep them cool, we get high velocity air ones , the little crate fans are simply useless, you must get a large box fan or large oscillating fan to keep their area cool and the air moving.
Again, for no reason leave your dogs unattended or in a vehicle for any period at all. It is too hot, at least here in Michigan it is, and its not getting any cooler anytime soon!
Here is wishing you all luck at your next shows, and keep cool!

HI
Well its Sunday night July 11, 2010.
Got home from a dog show at around 6 pm. It was two days of hot and humid weather, and sunny! I had a bite to eat and went to take a nap an woke up around 11 pm.
Wow the sun really zapped me!
Anyway, just got thru feeding the dogs and having a little free time. So wanted to catch up on my blog.
It was a great show weekend, we took a young female, Jazzmine, and our boy Slayton, young boy out one day. They haven't been to a show for over 8 months because of my surgeries so really needed to get out and get trained!
Well to our surprize Jazzman took the points both days and while Slayton didn't he behaved well and just needs more tail hair and body coat to come in!
Our boy from Canada was down for the weekend and took his first points in US so that was great to see him and his family!
All and all things are good with the dogs and dog shows!

Sunday here...
working on getting a Versitility Award for Jacob. We had to get together all of Jacob's titles , showing and working and therapy work for this award. We are hoping to get this award soon, so we have been calling everyone for all of his certificates needed.
Trying to get the dogs all washed and looking nice for our company coming over the 4th of July.
They all have their appointments at the grooming shop this week! Taking today off, had everyone over last night and am just pooped! The weather is just too humid and muggy to even try to walk anyone, maybe later tonit it will cool off so I can walk someone. Dogs right now are all laying peacefully in the shade snoozing away.

Hi its Friday night , all is quiet now. Just got thru feeding the dogs and the cats! John is home so he can take care of the horses!
I thought that maybe our Jordans abscess on his tooth may be back, so will have to start more antibiotics again.... He is getting so old, but the boy keeps going and going! Sweet
Jordan.
Also I forgot yesterday to mention I also give glucosamine to the older dogs and to any dogs that I show. It works well for sore muscles and have just heard that it is very good while dogs ears are coming up!
I learn something new daily about dogs and animals, no matter how many years of experience I have I always find something new to learn, hope this helps any of you reading my blog.

Hi
Its Thursday and I am starting this blog. I don't know if anyone is interested but decided to write down things about the life of a dog show enthusiast.
Also can answer questions about your family pets and possibly help you with simple advice!
I will start today by giving you the diet that I feed my malamutes.
So :
I get 6 stainless dishes and wash them out, and place them out on the counter over a dish rag. Then I start! (Its important to feed your animals from clean dishes each night)
I use Taste of The Wild dog food. We then add frozen green beans, thawed and microwaved with an egg for about a minute. Also Halo dream coat, which is a fish oil supplement, zinc, (very imprortant for northern breeds, especially malamutes)
and whatever scraps, or ground meat that I have goes in there too! My old boy gets a variety of pills for his arthritis as well stuffed into hot dogs pieces to make certain he eats them!
I then stack all of them and head out to the kennels! Dogs usually are howling, and jumping all over waiting for their turn to eat!
My husband tells me I cook better for the dogs and I think he is right.
When I come in then I check the little dogs dishes for food and water, and everyone is settled in for the nite! Hope you all have a great night, as tonite the humidity is down and its a great night for a walk! Enjoy!
